I am a statistician (aka data science) researcher. My main interests are machine learning, statistical modelling, programming, automated reporting, and data visualization.
Besides research, I am enthusiastic about running, cycling, music, and taking photos.
I did my PhD in the working group for Statistical Learning and Data Science which is part of the Ludwig Maximilians University.
In my dissertation I discussed and proposed new direction for component-wise gradient boosting.
Besides the theoretical aspects of machine learning and statistics, which I find very important, I am also interested in the practical applications of machine learning. Therefore, I am an author of a model-based boosting package called compboost, written in C++ and R, as well as collaborator in the mlr project.
Here, you can read about my contributions.
